The beginning of LJS Dine Jewelry

Ałkʼidááʼ … Long ago

The start to my handmade, handcrafted jewelry came from a simple amazing pair of sterling silver earrings I made - myself. It was a thought for the longest time - years. When I was little I remember helping my mother make handmade beaded jewelry. Over the years, all the jewelry I have owed had been mostly given to me and jewelry that I’ve purchased myself. As the years continued to pass, I became more intrigued in possibly making my own jewelry. It was then I realized there was nothing going to stop me; not even procrastination. So it was then, I felt the courage and confidence to write up my jewelry shopping list. Then, I purchased a few basic jewelry supplies from Michael’s. I remember being so excited to get home; felt as if i couldn’t wait. I would’ve, should’ve and could’ve waited, but … I didn’t. Over dinner, at a restaurant with my family (husband & children) I sat beginning my adventure. Little did I know and began to realize, it became my passion. Since that day, I have sat for hours, all day, all night making jewelry - beading, stringing, soldering silver and copper. I’ve doubted myself many times, made many mistakes, was very impatient most times. Eventually, after eagerly wanting to perfect making jewelry - I did. Every single piece of jewelry I’ve made, I’ve considered that, but also get every piece as close to perfect and unique. I then reassured myself never to give up. Consistency has been key throughout my adventure as an artist. Without mistakes, without consistency, without trial and error, without giving up there is no success. I can stand straight up, both feet planted on our beautiful Mother Earth. I am truly blessed.
